Welcome

The Cedar River Rascals 4-H Club is excited to welcome you! Our mission is to empower young people to reach their full potential through hands-on learning, teamwork, and fun. 4-H offers a wide range of projects, and while clubs often focus on specific areas, ours is all about cats. You don’t need a pure-bred cat to join; most of our members have a regular household pet (or two or three—or, well, you know how it is). Above all, we’re dedicated to creating an inclusive, welcoming space where every youth can explore their interests, build confidence, and make lasting memories.

4-H Activities

Meetings

The Cedar River Rascals meet on the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Renton, WA. Meeting locations vary, so please reach out if you’d like to join us! December 2024 through February 2025 we’ll be meeting at Benson Hill Elementary School in Renton. Open to youth ages 5-19 from King County, our meetings offer a fun and welcoming environment where members learn about cat care and behavior, work on creative crafts, connect with friends who share similar interests, enjoy picnics, and take part in volunteering opportunities to give back to the community.

Cat Shows

Our members take part in several exciting cat shows each year, where they get to showcase their beloved pets and hard work! Starting in 3rd grade, members can enter their cats, while younger members attend to learn the ropes and build confidence. Through these shows, members develop valuable skills in cat care, presentation, self-discipline, and more. It’s a fun, rewarding experience that brings out the best in both cats and their handlers!

Crafts

Our members love getting creative with a variety of crafting projects, including:

  • Painting and Drawing
  • Mixed Media
  • Photography
  • Fiber Arts and Crochet
  • Baking

These projects give them a chance to explore new skills and express themselves in unique ways. For those interested, their completed crafts can be entered in the county and state fairs, where they have the opportunity to showcase their work, receive feedback, and even earn ribbons or awards. It’s a wonderful way for our members to share their talents and take pride in their accomplishments!
